Academics at UVA Advance
Credited Classes
UVA Advance students enroll in two, three-credit classes. One class, the core class, is reserved only for Advance students but follows curriculum identical to undergraduate sections of the course. The second class, the elective class, is one in which students enroll alongside undergraduates in classes chosen from among the introductory-level courses offered each summer.

College Readiness Workshops
In addition to formal classes, the program includes College Readiness Workshops featuring guest speakers from across the University. Workshops are mandatory and appear on student transcripts as a zero-credit class, demonstrating students' additional preparation for undergraduate success.

- Library and Research Services
- College Admissions
- Stress Management and Wellness
- Undergraduate Majors and Fields of Study
Typical Daily Schedule
Before 10:00am: Breakfast and get ready for the day
10:30am - 12:45pm: Elective Class
12:45 - 2:00pm: Lunch and free time
2:00 - 4:15pm: Core Class
4:30 - 5:30pm: College Readiness Workshops (Tuesdays and Thursdays Only)
5:30 - 10:00pm: Dinner, free time, optional evening activities in Residence Hall
10:00pm: Curfew (must be in Residence Hall)
11:00pm: Quiet Hours (must be in assigned room, but no "lights out" enforcement)
Students are responsible for their own time management. Attendance is taken in classes, workshops, and at curfew check, but students are self-governing when it comes to going to sleep, getting up in the morning, and making it to meals during open dining hall hours.
