Laura Goldblatt is a literary and cultural studies scholar of state propaganda and material culture in the twentieth-century United States. Additionally, she has written about the university as a critical site of activist intervention and the impact of its built environment and labor practices on local housing markets and economic precarity. With Richard Handler, she has co-authored a book about postage stamps in the 20th-century United States showing how postal iconography and material culture offer a window into the contested meanings and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship (The American Stamp: Postal Iconography, Democratic Citizenship, and Consumerism in the United States (Columbia University Press, 2021)).
