The College Admission Process: Representatives from the UVA Office of Undergaduate Admission office discuss how the admission process works, what students should expect and what makes an effective application.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities: Faculty researchers review opportunities available to undergraduates outside of their required coursework and consider the advantages and requirements of these opportunities.
Education Abroad: UVA’s knowledgeable Study Abroad Advisors introduce students to the world of possibilities that exists for foreign study. As a follow-up, UVA Advance participants complete the University’s online Education Abroad Workshop.
Skills for Academic Success: UVA academic advisors/counselors discuss healthy study habits, differences between high school and college learning, academic writing and other key skills.
Libraries: Librarians from one of UVA’s seventeen libraries share the role of the 21st century academic library and provide tips for getting the most from library resources. Student Support Services (Academic and non-Academic): a panel of students provide insight into the university experience.
Finances: Managing money is an important skill for college students. Professionals from Student Financial Services discuss budgeting, saving and spending. Choosing a Major: How do university students decide which course of study to pursue? When is the right time to declare a major? These questions and more are addressed as students learn about the major-selection process.
