This course examines the political encounters and cultural transmissions between Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans in the nexus of the Atlantic World. We will trace the formation of the Atlantic world, the various modes of encounter, and the social, political, and economic consequences of those encounters. We will conclude with a study of the Age of Atlantic Revolutions at the turn of the nineteenth century.
